The International Idiots Club has a lot of fun and in doing so we support local charities through fund raisers and the sale of club memberships, t-shirts, koozies, and lanyards. We are pround supporters of the following local charities:
Sea Turtle, Inc. is a non-profit organization (501-C3). The sole source of income is public donations which are used to achieve the three missions. Specifically, donations help with the upkeep of the sea turtles housed at the facility. This includes food, medications, heaters, filters, water and electricity. Donations are also used to support Sea Turtle, Inc.’s educational programs and sent around the world to fund alternative resource and conservation projects.
Sea Turtle, Inc. awards scholarships to University level biology students. Each summer we host an internship program for currently enrolled or recently graduated college students in the biological sciences. Donations help to fund both of these student opportunities.
The South Padre Island Birding & Nature Center (SPI BNC) is a non-profit organization created by the Town of South Padre Island’s Economic Development Corporation in response to the researched desires of our residents and visitors. As one of the nine World Birding Center sites located within the lower Rio Grande Valley, their primary goal is to provide excellent, one-of-a-kind birding opportunities coupled with interpretive tours and educational opportunities to learn about birds and birding on South Padre Island.
The South Padre Island Dolphin Research and Sea Life Nature Center educates the public regarding the bottlenose dolphins native to the Gulf of Mexico and South Padre Island in addition to promoting public support for the wildlife of our area.
The Laguna Madre Humane Society provides a “no kill” animal shelter serving the communities of Port Isabel and South Padre Island Texas. With an all-volunteer Board and a small but hard working shelter staff of only eight, LMHS provides care and love for over 270 animals every day, 365 days a year. Animals are sheltered, fed, cleaned, medicated if ill, exercised, and otherwise comforted by the staff and a growing number of volunteers. The sole mission of the shelter is to provide this care until you come to select and adopt your next pet.
