Spike with a Sprite and his owner
Spike the dog, will only drink Sprite soda. The owner usually brings Spike to Boomies on a motorcycle carrying him in a harness on his chest that allows Spike to see forward. If there is inclement weather and the owner brings Spike in the front seat of the pick up truck, Spike gets upset with him.
The photo you see is of Alexandra, known to many as “Ally Cat” and her husband, AJ, at Boomerang Billy’s on South Padre Island, Texas.
On Sunday, June 5, 2011 at approximately 2:30 PM, Alex and her long time boyfriend A.J. were married on the beach directly in front of Boomies. For some of those attending it was a BIG SURPRISE as she and A.J. had only let it be known a couple of weeks prior to the event.
With the help of her family and friends, the entire area of Boomies and the wooden access ramp to the beach were decorated with a lot of flowery wedding type things, you know bows, ribbons, balloons, banners, placards, etc.
As the time approached, everyone headed for the beach and watched the event take place, which included a Unity Sand Ceremony (which is the combining of two different colors of fine sand together in a small clear glass vase. It takes the place of the traditional unity candle ceremony and is much better suited to outdoor and beach settings) by the Idiots Club’s very own Leslie Blasing. You could tell when the ceremony ended as the cheers from the crowd could be heard all the way across the sand, through the breeze and drifting sand up to the parking lot.
The wedding took place under the trellis that you see them standing by immediately after the ceremony.
Here is a little side note about one of the many gifts that was placed on a table for the couple to open afterwards. It was a “traditional” money tree decorated with sealed envelopes, and different denominations of currency clipped to some of the branches. It was mentioned that someone had placed a Sterling Bank Note (that means a British paper currency) on the tree and remarked how “tacky” they thought that was to give on as a wedding day present. As it turns out, Alex collects bills of any money from any country for a collection she has started. Now for you Canadian readers, please do not swamp here with Loonies and Toonies as she has enough of those from her “tip jar” already. However, consider her on your travels where you maybe have a bill that you no longer want to keep as a souvenir.
The next time you are on the Island and at Boomies you can present it to her in person.

On Sunday, March 13, 2011, Lifetime Idiot Suzanne Scharf and Idiot couple Bruce and Ivy Scharf (all from Canada) boarded an airplane at the Brownsville Airport and were flown for a few short minutes to the airspace directly over South Padre Island. They WILLINGLY jumped at an altitude of 13,500 feet out of that perfectly good airplane and then “free fell” (or should I say screamed) to 5,000 feet where they completed the FUN-FILLED experience by gently parachuting and landing on the beach in front of the Padre South Hotel on the Gulf side of the Island.
After they landed and were untangled from the rigging, someone in the crowd watching, actually said out loud, “Can you believe those Idiots!!”, without even knowing that the group, were in fact, card carrying and certified members of the International Idiots Club.
There’s a chance we might see another “fly-over” by the CAF during this years Idiot Boot Camp. Here’s hoping!
